Eat Healthy under pressure
One of the times I find it hardest to stick to a healthy eating program is when i’m having a bad day or am just utterly stressed. Sadly, my first thought is to have some truly good comfort food. I think of actually rich things to eat that are rotten for my fat loss method and worse for my over all well being. When the body is stressed out, it really needs healthy food more at that time than any other. Filling it completely with all the junk I crave when i’m having a bad day is worse because I’m not giving myself what i need to properly deal with the stress.
Here are some ways I try to avoid stress eating. I try and carry good healthy nibbles with me all the time. These are usually stuff like trail mix or granola bars possessing a small fat in them that might satisfy that urge to eat a large chocolate bar when i’m getting stressed. They’re actually better for my body than the huge chocolate bar and will give me the nutrients I have to deal with my busy lifestyle. Peanut butter is a great thing to have on hand if you can. I keep some in my briefcase ( peculiar, I know, but it works for me ) and I should have a spoonful if i’m ever going to be late for a meal or if I just need a good gratifying break. It’s surprising that it can actually curb hunger pains and also satisfies those urges I get when I am strung out.
I attempt to plan all my meals in advance. This helps me to stick to what I’ve already decided when the current gets tough. Sure, often I have tossed my lunch and went out for a cheeseburger, but it does not occur that frequently if I have already got a good plan. I actually try to add in tasty things to all my meals. If i’m certain to get sufficient healthy fats, it helps me to stop craving them when the stress levels increase.
I also like to keep things like jell-o around. It really have any calories, but satisfies my sweet tooth if I am getting a craving. Adding some whipping cream is also ok, since the whipped cream is still pretty lowcal.
These are all things that help me avoid stress eating. You’ll have to try them and figure out what works best for you. Keeping good selections around will help you to achieve success with your weight loss goals and feel happier about yourself. They will also help you manage your stress better and keep you going when you most need to.
